This title documents the results of a project that collected the educational life stories of a group of people who studied for a British business degree at a private college in Beijing between 1996 and 1999. It also presents some introduction to, and analysis of, the contemporary educational scene in China. The project was conducted on a small-scale and represents an intimate picture of the thoughts and perceptions of a small group of people participating in a very particular higher education environment in China. The "specialness" of the group's experience is compared and contrasted with their individual backgrounds, experiences, attitudes, and some of the wider contemporary social and cultural shifts taking place in China.
